Curt Robinson, Executive Director of the 1,770-member Geothermal Resources Council (GRC)
Curt Robinson is the Executive Director of the 1,770-member Geothermal Resources Council (GRC), headquartered in Davis, California. Since 1970, the GRC has built a solid reputation as the world’s leading geothermal association. The GRC serves as a focal point for continuing professional development for its members through its fall Annual Meeting, Transactions, Bulletin, outreach, information transfer, and education services. GRC has members in 35 countries and 33 states. Prior to his work at GRC, he held executive assignments in higher education and government and has twice worked in energy development. He has also taught at six universities and colleges. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in geography and a B.A. with honors, all at the University of California, Davis.

Susan Petty has 30 years of experience in the geothermal industry that includes well testing, and reservoir engineering and management. Susan was a founding partner in Black Mountain Technology, a geothermal consulting firm. She has designed and implemented more than 25 geothermal well stimulations, and was involved in early stage EGS fracture stimulations Petty is a named inventor on numerous AltaRock patent applications and supervises Alta Rock’s technology development program. Petty was a significant contributor to the 2007 EGS study conducted by MIT.

Subir Sanyal has been a leader in the geothermal industry for decades. His knowledge and expertise in the areas of geothermal project financing, management, economic analysis, property appraisal, reservoir engineering, numerical simulation, training and software development is unmatched. He is widely sought after as an expert witness and for his skills in due diligence projects. For the past three decades, Subir has managed major geothermal projects in the United States, the Philippines, Japan, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Italy. He has conducted technology transfer and evaluated geothermal fields in more than two dozen countries. In addition, Subir has assisted clients in sales negotiations, property appraisals, market studies and economic analysis.

Louis E. Capuano, Jr. Prior to ThermaSource, Mr. Capuano was drilling manager for Thermogenics, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Aircraft Corporation. Prior to Thermogenics, Inc., Mr. Capuano opened the regional office of Signal Oil and Gas Company in 1974. From 1980 to 2007, Mr. Capuano was CEO of ThermaSource, Inc. a geothermal engineering and drilling consultancy. In 2007, Mr. Capuano became President and CEO of ThermaSource, LLC, a holding company for ThermaSource, Inc., ThermaSource Cementing, Inc., EGS, Inc., ChemTech Services, LLC, and Tecton Geologic, LLC. Mr. Capuano earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Mr. Capuano has over 32 years of geothermal experience.

Jared Potter has been involved in energy related businesses for more than 27 years both as the co-founder of three startups: Petrophysical Services, founded in 1981 to provide services and equipment for the oil and gas industry was acquired by Litton Industries in 1984.  Coretest Systems was started in late 1984 and is still a successful business operating globally in the core analysis-equipment manufacturing arena. Jared stepped down as the CEO of Coretest to start Potter Drilling in 2003 with his father, Robert Potter, a well know geothermal pioneer and one of the key inventors of the EGS concept at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Potter Drilling, Inc. is developing novel hard rock drilling technology for Geothermal Energy and CO2 sequestration based on the patented hydrothermal spallation concept. Jared has a BS and MS in geology from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. in geology from Stanford University.

Malcolm Ward. Malcolm has extensive experience within the North American minerals & energy sectors as well as a keen eye for economics. Malcolm joined KUTh Exploration in January 2007 and led KUTh Energy through its IPO in September of that year.  Until August 2008 he managed all aspects of KUTh’s corporate and exploration activities, taking the company to be recognised as one of Australia’s leading geothermal exploration companies, with an enviable market profile and active projects in EGS, direct use and conventional geothermal. Malcolm was a founding delegate of the Australian Geothermal Energy Association and remains on AGEA’s Resources and Reserves Reporting Code, Policy, Direct Use and Transmission Committees.  He is a member of the AGEA/AGEG Geothermal Reporting Code Committee, a Member of the AusIMM of 25 years standing and has acted as a Competent Person for certain reports of geothermal exploration results.

Alan has over thirty years of experience in a range of settings, including government agencies (the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and University of California), major corporate firms (Bingham McCutchen and Orrick), and other private practice settings representing federal, state and local agencies; environmental NGOs, other affected parties, and development interests.  His work has included extensive advising on a broad range of matters, as well as litigation before the United States and California Supreme Courts, the District of Columbia and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal, federal district courts, state appellate courts, and superior courts.

Jonathan is also responsible for negotiating commercial arrangements with project partners and customers along with identifying potential business opportunities arising from a review of energy markets.  He also manages our detailed economic model for project evaluation to provide economic assessments of all current and potential projects.

Jonathan joined Petratherm in June 2007, and has worked in the energy industry for 16 years.  He held a variety of roles across all sectors of Origin Energy for more than 14 years prior to joining Petratherm.

Jonathan has Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Business Law, as well as an Honors Degree in Economics, all from Adelaide University.
